Baja California
September 19, 2009–January 3, 2010
Photography Exhibition The Ordover Gallery
at the San Diego Natural History Museum

Baja California, the 800-mile-long peninsula that begins across the U.S. border, is stunningly beautiful with many endemic plants and animals. The peninsula includes the meeting of the Sonoran Desert, the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortés) and the Pacific Ocean.

Baja California features imagery by National Geographic photographer, author and expedition leader Ralph Lee Hopkins.

The show’s featured photographer, Ralph Lee Hopkins, travels to the world’s wild places as an expedition leader and photographer with Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic. His photographs have been featured in numerous National Geographic publications and appear regularly in magazines including Arizona Highways, National Geographic Traveler, and Outdoor Photography.

In addition to photographs by Ralph Lee Hopkins, outstanding images by American and Mexican photographers will also be shown. On view will be photographs of Baja California by Octavio Aburto, Pilar Artola, Miguel Angel de la Cueva, Jack Dykinga, Patricio Robles Gil, Flip Nicklin, Abe Ordover, and Julio Rodriguez Ramos.

All artwork in The Ordover Gallery is for sale; a substantial portion of proceeds will benefit the Museum. The Ordover Gallery’s imagery and artists’ biographies can be viewed at www.ordovergallery.com.

Lecture and Opening Reception
Hopkins will present a lecture on Baja California, Saturday, September 19; 9–10:30 AM in the Museum’s Charmaine and Maurice Kaplan Theater.
Following the lecture will be an opening reception until 1 PM in the Museum’s Ordover Gallery. Purchase lecture tickets
