Matt Jawlik joined The Nat in 2022 as CFO and COO, overseeing finance, accounting, HR, and operations. Matt brings 20 years of experience in finance and operations leadership that spans the for-profit, non-profit, and government sectors. He began his career as an engineer with UPS, transitioned into management and operations consulting, and ultimately found his calling working with mission-based organizations. Most recently Matt served as Deputy CFO at the California Charter Schools Association, where he oversaw a $20 million budget.
Raised in Connecticut, Matt spent his youth hiking and mountain biking through the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. His childhood home backed onto a state park that offered endless opportunities to get lost among the streams, fields, and ridges within the woods. Matt moved west in 2004, landing in Los Angeles before coming to San Diego in 2013.
Matt earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University, and a Master’s degree and MBA from USC. Outside of work, Matt serves as Board President of the San Diego Global Vision Academy, a public charter school in his neighborhood. He stays busy with his two young children and enjoys cycling, running, playing music, and watching the Mets.
